Boardman Attorneys Win Termination of Parental Rights Case in Court of Appeals
Boardman attorneys Marta Meyers and Rebecca Oettinger successfully defended the trial court's ruling in a termination of parental rights case. The case involved a child whose parent had not contacted or supported the child in years. In the opinion, the Court of Appeals held that the trial court had not erred in admitting controversial evidence at trial. The court also held that the trial court properly exercised its jurisdiction under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act.
Meyers and Oettinger spent the better part of three years on the case. Through numerous motions and hearings, a multi-day jury trial, and a two-day bench trial, the Boardman attorneys helped their clients terminate the parental rights of an absent parent and secure a more stable life for the child involved.
