Firm Profile
Boardman, Suhr, Curry & Field LLP, also known as Boardman Law Firm, is one of the largest and most highly regarded law firms headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin. We offer a wide range of legal services, providing full service to both businesses and individuals.
Our roots date back to 1881. Our founders believed that the practice of law is a noble profession, and that belief still informs everything we do today.
While we respect our history, we have also evolved with the times. Today, we offer legal services that are completely up-to-date, in keeping with our complex and ever-changing legal environment.
Our History
We are proud that Boardman remains one of the oldest and most respected law firms in the state of Wisconsin.
W. Wade Boardman, Fredrick W. Suhr, Robert L. Curry and Henry A. Field formed the law firm of Boardman, Suhr, Curry & Field in 1970, but our roots date back to 1881, when Robert M. LaFollette began his law practice in Madison.
In 1933 Robert M. Lafollette's son, Philip LaFollette, along with Glenn D. Roberts, John D. Roe and W. Wade Boardman formed a law partnership. In 1950, after World War II, the firm was restructured and became Roberts, Roe, Boardman, Suhr and Bjork.
In 2005, Boardman, Suhr, Curry & Field acquired Quale & Hartmann an established firm with its own historic roots located in the beautiful rolling hills of Baraboo.

Boardman's Executive Committee currently is made up of James E. Bartzen (Chair), Jon C. Nordenberg, Marta T. Meyers, Richard A. Heinemann, and Paul M. Schmidt.
Executive Director
Donna Hurd
With her arrival to the firm in June of 2008, Donna brought the vision of firm-wide progress as well as the energy to achieve it. In addition to bringing the firm together internally, Donna has been especially focused on unifying the firm with the surrounding community and its current client-base. She has brought awareness of a Madison law firm's repsonsibility to the community and its clients through her own committment to community involvement and a stout dedication to client satisfaction, even making countless client-service calls herself.
